NFL fans are all poking at the Dallas Cowboys after they signed the 4x Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook. While Cook was one of the best backs in the league for almost half of a decade, now he is on the last leg of his career. While Jerry Jones was vocal about the team going ‘all in’ this offseason, it appears he has done far from that.

While the Dallas Cowboys recently fell to the second most hated team in the league, there are still tons of NFL fans who love to see Dallas fail. This had pushed fans to social media to start poking some jokes at the Cowboys after the signing.

Dallas Cowboys Running Back Room Is Just A Bit Old

The four-time Pro Bowler will join another older back in Ezekiel Elliott. While both of these backs were some of the best in the league, that was about three years ago now.

Per Jordan Sigler of Gridiron Heroics, who had called this move way back In June:

According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, the Cowboys are signing Cook on Wednesday.

The Minnesota Vikings selected Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He signed with the New York Jets last summer. However, he didn’t see much action following Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury, and the Jets released him in January. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens in January to help with their playoff run.

Just as Jordan was saying, the Cowboys needed to add some depth to their running back room, and it made perfect sense for the team to bring in Cook for additional help. The team missed out on all of the top backs to start free agency, and they ended up with Elliott and Cook. Fans are a bit skeptical that this will be a good running back tandem as they are both at the end of their careers.

We will have to wait and see if these two backs can make a difference to a Cowboys team that was one of the best on offense last season. Fans do not think this is going to happen though.

The Cowboys went from spending the most money in the league on their top receiver CeeDee Lamb, and have lost many of their key players on offense during this offseason. While Jones has brought in some players, fans will always jump at the opportunity to poke fun at America’s Team:

“2 washed running backs is better than 1!” said a Ravens fan on X/Twitter.

“Love this move. Cook has a lot to prove and I still think he’s got a lot left in the tank,” a Cowboys fan said.

“Not sure how much he has left in the tank didn’t look like the same player on the Jets Cowboys now have [two] aging once prolific RB’s,” said Doctor of Physical Therapy and sports injury analyst Evan Phillips.

“Cowboys running backs room going to be sponsored by AARP,” a fourth person chimed in.

“Cowboys with Zeke and Cook are assembling the greatest running back duo of 2018,” said NFL YouTuber JaguarGator9.
