Former Pro Bowl quarterback Tyler Huntley has quickly found a new team after his release by the Cleveland Browns, joining the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad just one day later, sources from The Athletic reveal.
Huntley, who was part of the Browns’ 53-man roster initially, was let go following Cleveland’s unsuccessful attempts to trade him. Despite having the best completion rate (72.5%) and leading the team with three touchdown passes during the preseason, as well as being the second-highest rusher with 46 yards on eight carries, Huntley still found himself without a spot on the Browns’ active roster.
The 26-year-old quarterback started his NFL journey with the Ravens as an undrafted rookie in 2020. Although he only threw five passes that season, Huntley’s role expanded significantly over the following three years, stepping in for Lamar Jackson for a total of nine starts.
His performance peaked during the 2022 season when he completed 67% of his passes and was instrumental in leading the Ravens into the playoffs as a wild card entry. Huntley’s efforts were noteworthy in the playoff loss against the Bengals, where he contributed two touchdown passes.
Last season, Huntley saw limited action, making just one start and appearing in five additional games. His return to the Ravens marks a full circle, backing up Josh Johnson, a veteran entering his 16th NFL season and beginning his third stint with Baltimore.
