It has been an interesting off-season for the reigning Finals MVP Jaylen Brown as he gears up for his “villain arc” ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 season. In a series of social media posts, Brown vowed to take his game to another level, determined to shut down his critics once and for all.
He has seen critics come from all corners despite a championship win and an amazing career year. As a result, Jaylen Brown feels overlooked and disrespected by his peers with the recent snub from the Paris Olympic Games, where his Celtics teammates received the nod instead.
Furthermore, this perceived disrespect from critics has fueled his determination to prove himself as one of the top players in the game. Last season saw him average 23.0 points per game as well as clinch the coveted NBA Finals MVP honors, but like every great player before him it’s just the start of his rigorous off-season training regimen, a testament to the fact. And to announce this, in his own way, he just added onto a “JB villain year loading” comment.

Gilbert Arenas defends Jaylen Brown’s omission from NBA 2K25 top 10
The NBA2K25 top ten list witnessed its fair share of controversy, leading Gilbert Arenas to add to it by defending Jaylen Brown’s omission from the top 10 ratings on the list. Arenas believes Brown’s rating is fair, despite the Celtics star’s impressive performance last season.
He (Jaylen Brown) is not the No. 1 option on his team. He sits in the corner; they double Tatum. Pass goes through Jrue… He does not get doubled. He does not demand the double (team)… He’s not in this realm [of the top 10 players in NBA 2K25). Gilbert Arenas said on the Gil’s Arena
Understandably, Brown’s exclusion from the top 10 has raised eyebrows among fans and players alike and as such, Agent Zero’s comments may not sit well with Boston Celtics fans, who feel Brown deserves a higher rating after his instrumental role in the team’s championship win.
Brown has steadily improved since his rookie year, earning his first All-NBA nod and helping the Celtics become a perennial title contender. However, JB has a rating of 92, three more than what he received in the game’s previous edition.
