Could the Pittsburgh Steelers solve their quarterback problems with a massive splash in the offseason? Next season, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is scheduled to be a free agent, and with the Cowboys and Prescott not making all that much progress so far, there is a real possibility that ends up happening.
Could the Steelers naturally be an option for a three-time Pro Bowler? It would not be that surprising since they have the cap space, but land Prescott would cost a fortune. Yet, the Steelers have issues at quarterback, and at some point, the team has to make a swing at the position that carries significant risk.
Prominent NFL pundit Mike Floroo could see the exact scenario where the Steelers end up signing Prescott to play out next offseason.
“Would they pay Dak market value? Here’s the thing about free agency — Dak could choose to go to a team and coach for less than market value. After having Jerry Jones try to persuade him for years to take less than he could get elsewhere, Dak could stick it to the Cowboys by choosing to take less from one of their biggest AFC rivals,” Florio said.
At this point, the Steelers are still waiting to see what they have in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. If either of those players ends up playing well, the Steelers could just text one of them. Yet, Yet, if they end up in quarterback’s no-man land once again and have a draft pick too high to land a top rookie quarterback, the idea of adding Prescott makes a lot of sense for the Steelers.
