Red Sox Lineup Update: Power Slugger Returns for a High-Stakes Pitchers’ Duel

BOSTON — Tyler O’Neill is back in Red Sox lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks after sitting the past two games with left fourth finger inflammation.

The Red Sox will try to salvage the final game of this three-game series after losing 12-2 Friday and 4-1 Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. here at Fenway Park.

This game has all the potential for a pitchers’ duel.

Righty Merrill Kelly (3-0, 3.63 ERA) will start for the Dbacks opposite Red Sox ace Tanner Houck (8-8, 3.01 ERA).

Boston hitters are a combined 7-for-36 (.194 batting average) with a homer, two doubles, three walks and 16 strikeouts against Kelly. O’Neill is 3-for-16 with a homer, double and four RBIs vs. the righty.

Hitters on Arizona’s active roster are a combined 4-for-24 (.167) with two homers, one walk and eight strikeouts against Houck.
