Novak Djokovic celebrated his daughter Tara’s seventh birthday at an intimate party in Serbia. The World No. 2 had the opportunity to spend time with his family and celebrate with his daughter in person following his early exit from the 2024 US Open.

Tara was born on September 2, 2017, and is Novak and his wife Jelena’s second child. They have an elder son, Stefan, who is nine. The family celebrated the occasion with an intimate party which reportedly involved only their near and dear ones.

Here are some pictures of the celebrations with balloons and bouquets.

Djokovic could be with his family in time because of his third-round exit from the ongoing US Open. He faced a shock defeat against this year’s Canadian Open winner Alexei Popyrin, 4-6, 4-6, 6-2, 4-6.

Novak Djokovic picked up a knee injury at the 2024 French Open but quickly recovered after undergoing surgery to finish as runner-up at Wimbledon. Weeks later, the Serb won the elusive Olympic gold medal in his fifth attempt.

He skipped the preparatory tournaments of the North American hardcourt swing to play directly at the US Open.

The 37-year-old took on Romania’s Radu Albot in the first round of the New York Major and won 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. In the second round, he faced compatriot Laslo Djere but the latter had to retire mid-match after trailing 4-6, 4-6 0-2. Popyrin, however, was ruthless against the second seed in the third round and defeated him in four sets.

During his post-match press conference, Djokovic congratulated the Aussie and rued his own performance, saying:

“Congrats to him (Popyrin) and his team. He played better and deserved to win. Honestly with the way I felt and played from the start of the tournament… round 3 is a success.”

“I played some of the worst tennis I’ve ever played. Serving by far some of the worst ever. On a quick surface like this, you can’t win without a serve. You can’t win against the guys who are in form like Alexei. It was just an awful match from me,” Djokovic added.

The World No. 2 will next play at the Davis Cup, representing Serbia against Greece at the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall in Belgrade on September 14 and 15.
