After Steph Curry signed a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, many are wondering if this could be the last one for him. Curry hasn’t shared his plans of retiring after signing his new deal, but many have started to speculate. The only thing he wants to see is him retiring with the team that drafted him.

Curry appeared on NBC’s “TODAY” on Tuesday and got a chance to promote his new graphic novel “Sports Superheroes Volume #1: Stephen Curry.” He also encouraged his fans to watch his new sitcom show at Peacock, “Mr. Throwback.”

One of the hosts, Craig Melvin, brought up his new contract extension with the Warriors. Melvin didn’t beat around the bush and directly asked if Curry plans on retiring as a member of the Golden State franchise.

“I hope so,” Curry answered.

“I’ve been there, going into my 16th year and I’ve always said it’s a goal of mine to finish my career with that organization, see me go through the ranks and accomplish amazing things with Draymond [Green], I know Klay [Thompson] is not with us anymore, but I wanna keep winning, obviously. I know, we have hopefully some days ahead doing that. So, definitely want to be there.”

Melvin asked Curry about his retirement at the 2:10 mark.

This isn’t the first time that Curry has expressed his intentions of retiring with the same organization. In an interview with Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports in July, the Warriors star expressed his desire to stay with one franchise for the rest of his career.

With the new contract, the two-time MVP will be with Golden State until the end of the 2026-27 season. That might all change, though, if the company offers him a better offer.

Steph Curry wants to own an NBA team

Steph Curry discussed a variety of topics about his interests outside of basketball during his visit to the NBC program. Aside from the new book and show, Curry shared his plans of potentially becoming an owner of an NBA team.

“For me, that’s definitely on the table,” said Curry. “I think I could do a pretty good job of helping sustain how great the the NBA is right now and what it takes to run a championship organization.”

The future Hall of Fame guard shared that he took inspiration from Michael Jordan’s tenure as a majority owner of the Charlotte Hornets. Additionally, the chance of a league expansion awakened his interest in being part of an ownership group.

Curry didn’t share which team he wanted to be a part of.
