In round 3 of the 2024/25 Premier League, Man City visited West Ham. Pep Guardiola’s team opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Paqueta lost the ball in his own half, Bernardo stole the ball and passed the ball for Haaland to easily beat Areola. 9 minutes later, West Ham unexpectedly equalized 1-1 after Ruben Dias scored an own goal. Thus, Dias has had 3 own goals in the Premier League. No player has scored more own goals than Dias since his debut in October 2020.

However, it was Haaland who put Man City ahead in the 30th minute. In the 83rd minute, the player born in 2000 quickly ran down to meet Nunes’ through ball and skillfully lifted the ball over Fabianski’s head in a one-on-one to officially decide the game. Thus, Haaland became the first player in Premier League history to score 7 goals in the opening 3 rounds of the season. Haaland is the first player to score a hat-trick in 2 of a team’s first 3 matches in a season since Paul Jewell at Bradford in the 1994/95 season.

Haaland has now scored 70 goals in 69 Premier League matches for Man City, including 8 hat-tricks. The number of goals he has scored in the Premier League for Man City – since his debut for the club – is almost double that of the next player, Mohamed Salah. Currently, Haaland is leading the list of top scorers. He has a great chance of winning the award for the third consecutive season if he maintains his current stability and high damage.

Erling Haaland has matched Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League goal tally from last season.

In total, Haaland has scored 97 goals in 102 appearances in all competitions for Man City. The Norwegian striker only needs 3 more goals to reach the 100-goal mark.

Currently, Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club. It took him only 105 matches to score his first 100 goals for Real Madrid.

Now, Haaland is challenging Ronaldo’s record with 97 goals in 102 matches. In the next 3 matches, Man City will face Brentford (Premier League), Watford (League Cup) and Inter Milan (Champions League). With his current form, the Norwegian striker can completely break CR7’s record.
