ATP Rankings Winners & Losers US Open: Novak Djokovic -2, Alexander Zverev +2, Frances Tiafoe & Jack Draper on rise

Frances Tiafoe, Jack Draper and Alexander Zverev are three of the big winners in the ATP Rankings from the 2024 US Open so far, while Novak Djokovic is set for a drop.

Jannik Sinner is the only player ranked in the top 10 to reach the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows and he has extended his lead as the world No 1.

The 23-year-old Italian has already gained 620 points, having reached the fourth round of the 2023 US Open, which takes his total to 9,980 in the Live ATP Rankings. Sinner will have 10,480 points if he reaches the final and 11,180 if he claims the title.

ATP Top 10 Before US Open

1. Jannik Sinner – 9,360
2. Novak Djokovic – 7,460
3. Carlos Alcaraz – 7,360
4. Alexander Zverev – 7,035
5. Daniil Medvedev – 6,275
6. Andrey Rublev – 4,805
7. Hubert Hurkacz – 4,055
8. Casper Ruud – 3,855
9. Grigor Dimitrov – 3,655
10. Alex de Minaur – 3,435

Alexander Zverev has benefitted from the shock early exits suffered by Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz to leapfrog the pair as he is set to jump two spots from fourth to second. The 27-year-old German will be on 7,075 points after his run to the quarter-finals.

Having been the defending US Open champion, Djokovic will lose a mammoth 1,900 points after his third round loss to Alexei Popyrin — taking his points tally to 5,560. As a result, the 37-year-old Serbian will drop below both Zverev and Alcaraz.

Alcaraz, who was a US Open semi-finalist in 2023, will see his points total decrease by 670 to 6,690 due to his second round defeat to Botic van de Zandschulp.

As things stand, Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev, Hubert Hurkacz, Casper Ruud, Grigor Dimitrov and Alex de Minaur have not moved from the ranking positions they held heading into the tournament. This could change, though, depending on how the closing stages of the New York major play out.

Projected ATP Top 10 After US Open

1. Jannik Sinner – 9,980/10,480/11,180
2. Alexander Zverev – 7,075
3. Carlos Alcaraz – 6,690
4. Novak Djokovic – 5,560
5. Daniil Medvedev – 5,475
6. Andrey Rublev – 4,645
7. Hubert Hurkacz – 4,060
8. Casper Ruud – 4,010
9. Grigor Dimitrov – 3,965
10. Alex de Minaur – 3,655

The Winners

Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will face off in an all-American US Open semi-final — and both have the chance to climb into the top 10 of the ATP Rankings.

Fritz has moved up from 12th to 11th in the Live Rankings for reaching the last four and he will climb to seventh if he is a runner-up and sixth if he claims the title.

Tiafoe, meanwhile, has already jumped four spots from 20th to 16th and he will move to 13th if he reaches the final or 10th if he lifts the trophy.

Jack Draper has made a five-place leap from 25th to a new career-high ranking of world No 20 for progressing to the semi-finals.

If the Brit were to overcome Sinner to reach the championship match, he would surge to 14th, while winning the title could take him as high as 11th place.

Alexei Popyrin is set to climb four places to world No 24 for reaching the fourth round, while Brandon Nakashima has made a 10-place surge to 40th for advancing to the same stage.

Former world No 7 David Goffin is up 15 spots from 78th to 63rd in the Live Rankings for his run to the third round. Gabriel Diallo has made a 40-place jump to a new career-high of 103th for making the third round as a qualifier.

The Losers

Ben Shelton has dropped four places from 13th to 17th in the Live Rankings after his third round defeat, having been a semi-finalist in 2023.

Zhang Zhizhen has slid from 41st to 48th following his first round exit, while Cameron Norrie has fallen from 47th to 52nd after missing the US Open through injury.

Hugo Gaston has dropped 11 places to 74th after losing in the opening round, while Rinky Hijikata has moved down 14 positions to 76th following a second round defeat.
