The Dominican revealed who his favorite player is right now, and notably, it’s not one of his teammates in Boston. “With today’s youth, there are many great players, and Bobby Witt Jr. from Kansas City has become one of my favorites,” said Devers.

But why is Bobby Witt one of his favorites? The native of Sánchez, Dominican Republic, responded: “Watching him play impressed me more than all the players right now.”

Devers, the 27-year-old third baseman, also included several former teammates on his list of favorites, such as Mookie Betts, JD Martínez, and Xander Bogaerts, who were his role models with the Red Sox when he started his Major League career in 2017.

Finally, Devers mentioned a couple of Dominican players he admired since childhood and respects for their success during their MLB careers. According to “Carita,” the still-active Robinson Canó and Hall of Famer Adrián Beltré have been two of his greatest idols.
