49ers vs. Jets Final Injury Report: Talanoa Hufanga doubtful, two players out for Monday

The San Francisco 49ers released their official injury report ahead of Monday night’s game against the New York Jets, which is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium.

Here are the injuries on both sides ahead of Week 1.

San Francisco 49ers

OUT

DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)

LB Dee Winters (ankle)

DOUBTFUL

S Talanoa Hufanga (ACL)

QUESTIONABLE

RB Christian McCaffrey (calf, achilles)

OL Aaron Banks (finger)

New York Jets

OUT

LB Zaire Barnes (ankle)

OL Wes Schweitzer (hand)

A majority of the 49ers had been practicing this week, with Yetur Gross-Matos and Dee Winters being the only ones who missed the entire week, instead conditioning on the side with their respective knee and ankle injuries.

However, there were a number of players limited throughout the week. Aaron Banks, Isaac Guerendo, Talanoa Hufanga, Jauan Jennings, and Christian McCaffrey were all limited on Thursday and Friday.

The whole group had been out on the field Saturday, but it doesn’t seem like Talanoa Hufanga will play in Week 1, so the 49ers will likely trot out Ji’Ayir Brown and George Odum at safety.

Shanahan said that Hufanga has looked great, but the team is trying to play it smart with him. The only reason the safety wasn’t ruled out was because of an emergency, but things are seeming more positive for the early part of the season.

Christian McCaffrey and Aaron Banks are the only two that are questionable, with the former dealing with a calf injury, while the latter is still recovering from the finger injury he sustained during the middle of training camp.

Left tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk are good to go, but Shanahan said he’d be “surprised” if the latter gets his normal workload in terms of snaps.

On the Jets side, they revealed that linebacker Zaire Barnes and offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer were the only two players ruled out.

However, their biggest storyline has been the absence of pass-rusher Haason Reddick, who has not reported since being traded to New York from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this offseason.

Head coach Robert Saleh shared that “it’s fair to say” Reddick will not play in Week 1 against the 49ers.

But, for the most part, it seems that both teams will be at full strength when they face off on Monday night, setting up for an exciting season opener at Levi’s Stadium.
