Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott revealed that his teammates are expecting new watches after signing a record-breaking contract extension with the organization on Sunday.
According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Prescott said that his teammates gave him their wrist sizes for Rolex or Audemars Piguet watches following his new four-year, $240 million deal.
It doesn’t seem as though all of his peers submitted their wrist sizes, as star pass-rusher Micah Parsons playfully called out the quarterback in a post on X.
Prescott will earn an average value of $60 million on his contract extension, representing the new highest mark in the NFL (per Spotrac). The deal also includes $231 million guaranteed, via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Even though he was already signed through the 2024 season prior to Sunday’s agreement, negotiations between Prescott and the Cowboys continued throughout training camp.
The signal-caller wrapped up an exceptional individual season in 2023, completing 69.5 percent of his throws for 4,516 yards as well as a league-leading 36 touchdown passes.
Dallas previously signed the 31-year-old’s top target, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, to a new four-year contract worth $136 million on Aug. 26.
With the long-term future of the team’s top two offensive stars secured, the Cowboys got off to a strong start to the 2024 season on Monday. Dallas defeated the Cleveland Browns by the final score of 33-17.
Prescott finished 19-of-32 for 179 yards and a touchdown.
Parsons also led a dominant performance from the Cowboys’ defensive line, recording one sack and four tackles. As a team, Dallas took down Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson six times.
As Prescott figures out his teammates’ gift choices following his new contract, he’ll also prepare for the Cowboys’ Week 2 matchup with the New Orleans Saints.
