If the NFL world didn’t know how dangerous Xavier Worthy would be on the Kansas City Chiefs offense, they do now.
Worthy was a star in the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens with his 4.21 speed on show multiple times…ironically on his two touchdowns (one rushing, one receiving).
It wasn’t known exactly how Andy Reid would use Worthy against the Ravens but after one game, the league is on notice with the speed merchant tearing apart the Baltimore defense numerous times.
And we think that Patrick Mahomes is happy to have such a weapon at his disposal.
“He’s so cool, calm, and collected like all the time,” Mahomes said of Worthy. “You would never even see the excitement on him, but he goes out there and makes plays. Obviously, we want to continue to use him more and more but I thought he had a great day, making big plays and big moments. It was good to get the whole offense going and kind of seeing where everybody’s at.”
When the Buffalo Bills traded with the Chiefs on draft day, which allowed Kansas City to draft Worthy, the rookie’s showing against Baltimore left many wondering exactly what Buffalo was thinking.
Mahomes was missing one thing from his offensive arsenal last season, and the Bills handed it to him on a gold platter.
With Worthy’s performance, the rest of the league must now figure out how to stop not only him but the other weapons at Mahomes’ disposal, and also, Marquise Brown didn’t suit up either.
Kansas City got its Super Bowl defense off to the perfect start, and it has Worthy to thank.
