On Sunday morning, just hours before the Dallas Cowboys were set to take on the Browns in Week 1, Dak Prescott signed a new four-year $240 million deal, making him the highest-paid NFL player of all time. Later, Jason Garrett shared his true feelings about Prescott on NBS’s Football Night in America.

But back to Dak, he just plays the game at a high level,” said Garrett. “I hear these clowns on TV say he’s overrated, he’s not in the top 10. Watch the game! He’s an incredible football player. Great leader for that team.”

It was some truly high praise from the once very highly respected head coach.

It’s also worth noting that Prescott and Jason Garrett had some overlap in the Dallas Cowboys organizations.

Garret was the head coach of the Cowboys from 2010-2019. It’s not often that a coach can stick with one team for so long.

He was entering his sixth year with the organization when they picked Prescott with the 135th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Dak had the opportunity to start all 16 games that year and thrived under Garrett’s offensive scheme.

The pair were a part of 64 total games together, accumulating an impressive 40-24 record, with Dak making two Pro Bowls and Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Jason Garrett Enjoyed A Successful 15-Year Coaching Career

Garret spent 15 total years in the NFL as either an offensive coordinator or head coach.

He got his first start with Dallas as an OC but would quickly get promoted to HC in 2010 and stayed in that spot until his eventual firing in 2019. Through those years, he had an 85-67 record with three playoff births.

Garrett ended his coaching career after a two-year stint with the New York Giants, which wasn’t anything to write home about.
