Arsenal fans will have no doubt had their hearts in their mouths last night as Martin Odegaard went down under a challenge.
Mikel Arteta will have had sleepless nights after Riccardo Calafiori‘s injury earlier on in the international break, and now he has another to worry about as Martin Odegaard faces a spell out.
Fabrizio Romano claimed that Calafiori’s injury was not serious and just a knock, which offered some hope for Arsenal fans as he returned home.
However, it remains to be seen as to whether he will be fit enough to feature in the North London derby.
Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard went down under a challenge from Austria’s Christoph Baumgartner last night and hobbled off the pitch.
And, a doctor on Twitter has now offered up some potential return dates for the midfielder…
Doctor shares potential return dates for Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard after injury during Norway vs Austria
One of Odegaard’s teammates Leo Skiri Østigård was furious with the challenge on the Arsenal man and wanted to get his revenge on the Austrian player.
It remains to be seen as to how long Odegaard may be out for as the exact extent of the injury is still unknown, but it appears as if Fabio Vieira’s loan move now looks to be a bit of a mistake.
Nevertheless, doctor Rajpal Brar has provided a bit of a prediction in terms of potential return dates on Twitter.
So, it looks as if the only hope of him returning for the North London derby to face Tottenham would be if it’s a grade 1 injury that can respond to treatment.
However, it’s unlikely that Arsenal will want to risk him even if it is.
What has the Norway doctor said about his injury?
Interestingly, the Norwegian football team’s doctor said.
“He got a small ankle sprain. We will see, maybe we use ultrasound to look at it”.
“If we are unsure, there will be an MRI tomorrow.”
