Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena Djokovic, recently shared an astounding stat about her husband’s head-to-head record against the current top 20 players in the world. The Serb is not only unbeaten against a few but leads the head-to-head against all players in the top 20 right now.
Djokovic made history by achieving a Gold Medal in the recently concluded Summer Olympics in Paris. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets in the finals, 7-6(3), 7-6(2). However, the Serb has had a difficult season so far, failing to defend his title in Melbourne and experiencing early exits in Paris and New York.
The 37-year-old is yet to win a title this year, but his wife, Jelena Djokovic, served a reminder about his extraordinary record against the top players. She highlighted how Djokovic leads the head-to-head against players such as Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, and Taylor Fritz.
Here is the story shared by Jelena Djokovic on her Instagram handle.
While Sinner and Alcaraz trail the veteran three games to four, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Hubert Hurkacz are all yet to open their accounts against Djokovic. Fritz has lost nine matches in a row against the 37-year-old, while Hurkacz has failed to pass the test on seven occasions.
Meanwhile, promising youngsters such as Ben Shelton, Sebastian Korda, and Jack Draper have only faced Djokovic once on tour and ended up on the receiving end of those matches. Russian No. 1 Dannil Medvedev, Daniil Medvedev, is the only player to have recorded five wins against Djokovic, but even he has a relatively low win ratio of 33%.
Djokovic showed his ability to shift gears when it matters during the Summer Olympics in Paris. He not only outfoxed Carlos Alcaraz in the finals but also defeated his archrival Rafael Nadal in an earlier round.
